Groceries have been killing Americans’ wallets for the past few years. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, many fear the holiday meal will break the bank, but there’s some good news.

According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, a Thanksgiving meal for 10 people is cheaper this year, costing just over $58. This is a 5% decline from last year and the second year in a row costs have declined, mainly because the price of turkey has gone down at least $1.68 per pound. The costs of other holiday staples have also dropped.

So where should you shop for your Thanksgiving meal to find the best deals?

1. Target

Target has offered up a Thanksgiving meal for four people for years. Last year, it cost $25. This year, shoppers will save $5 and get the same meal for $20. That works out to $5 per person per meal.

The shopping list includes turkey, potatoes, cranberry sauce, stuffing (or dressing, depending on your region), gravy, and the ingredients to make green bean casserole.

2. Walmart

Walmart, like Target, is known for its lower prices and wide selection. The retailer is going one step further, however, by removing inflation from its holiday meal prices.

That means, you can get a dinner for eight people, with 28 dishes, for $51, which is less than $7 per person. While it’s slightly more expensive than Target’s option, it includes more variety of dishes and desserts.

3. Aldi

Aldi is known for its off-brand, but delicious, alternatives to grocery shopping. Shopping for your Thanksgiving meal at this German chain costs $47 for a meal serving 10, according to its menu. That’s a total cost of $4.70 per person.

Items on this shopping list include a turkey, mac and cheese, stuffing, rolls, and gravy. Plus, you’ll also find the ingredients to make other staples like cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, and green bean casserole.

4. Dollar General

Normally, most people likely wouldn’t think of Dollar General when considering a Thanksgiving meal, but the store has bundles available for side dishes.

There are three bundles—pumpkin pie, sweet potato casserole, or green bean casserole. Each includes three items that make up the dish. You’ll pay for two of the products and get the third item free, bringing the cost of that dish down.

5. Sam’s Club

Sam’s Club is offering lower prices on Thanksgiving items under its Member’s Mark brand, hoping to help families feed 10 people for under $100.

The bundle will include turkey, mac and cheese, dinner rolls, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. As an added bonus, the retailer is providing all items pre-cooked, so you simply just need to heat it up, which can be done in less than two hours.

6. Meijer

Meijer is a mid-west grocery chain that has decided it wants to be part of the festivities, too. This year, it announced it was offering frozen turkeys for no more than $0.49 per pound.

Additionally, you can pick up a family meal for four to six people for just $37. That comes to between $6 and $9 per person.

7. Your Local Grocery Stores

If you don’t have any of these retailers near you, don’t fret. You can still likely put together a delicious holiday meal without breaking the bank.

Many grocery stores steeply discount the staples, like sweet potatoes and turkey, to make meals more affordable. Just make sure you check your local fliers for the best deals.
